Geometry Workshop in Obergurgl 2025

This workshop is going to take place at Universitätszentrum Obergurgl in the Ötztal alps.

This meeting is similar to previous workshops 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023, 3 of which happened in Obergurgl. Topics of this meeting include, but are not limited to: discrete differential geometry, computational geometry; geometry processing; manufacturing, fabrication and design.

The workshop starts with dinner on Tuesday August 26 at 19:00. The scientific program is from the morning of Wednesday August 27 to lunchtime on Saturday August 30. Departure is on August 30 or August 31.

We are planning a hike to a nice viewpoint. Click [here] for a webcam video taken October 31, 2016 at 3 p.m. If you not confident about hiking steeply uphill at high altitudes, there are several obvious locations on the way where you can stay or turn aside, e.g. the Rotmoos glacier valley. Accommodation in Obergurgl is booked by the organizers, guests stay at the conference venue.

Costs. Accommodation plus meals will cost approximately EUR 140 per day in a double room, and EUR 180 per day in a single room. There is small discount for Ph.D. students. There will be no additional conference fee.

Most routes go through Innsbruck which has an international airport and train connections to Germany, Italy and Switzerland. If you arrive before the 26th, the Tyrol and Innsbruck offer touristic distractions. Also the conference venue is likely to have a room available. If you fly to Munich, you can reach Innsbruck by train.

Fastest travel from Innsbruck Airport to Obergurgl (1.5 hours) is via an airport shuttle. It costs about EUR 300 for 8 persons and makes sense if you share. We are happy to help coordinating shuttles. Cheapest travel to Obergurgl from Innsbruck is to take a train to ``Ötztal Bahnhof'' and continue to Obergurgl by bus (in total 2.5h).
