Abstract: A height function is a real valued function that measures the "arithmetic complexity" of an algebraic number. Sets of algebraic numbers of bounded degree and height are finite by Northcott's Theorem. Therefore, it is natural to ask for asymptotic formulas for the cardinality of these sets as the height bound tends to infinity.
