Abstract: We consider a wide class of the generalised Camassa–Holm equations in which both the nonlinear component p and the order of smoothing operator m are general, which generalises the results in the literature in this direction. We obtain the local well-posedness of solutions by using Kato’s semigroup approach for quasilinear equations. We propose a systematic approach to treat the commutator and general differential operators, which avoids tricky computations concerning higher derivatives. [hide abstract] | |
