Abstract: The analytical and numerical homogenization of periodic and porous electrodes is presented. Arbitrary but periodic compositions of spheres are forming the electrode particles. The ambient space is filled by electrolyte. Its macroscopic transport characteristics are analysed. Numerical meshes have been developed that allow to map the boundary layer effects occurring in such geometries. Using these, a numerical calculation of macroscopic transport characteristics, e.g. the effective diffusion coefficient, can be calculated. This allows for a mapping of the measurable pore size distribution in arbitrary periodic structures and their macroscopic transport characteristics.[hide abstract] | |
