Lasse Wulf (TU, advisor B. Klinz): Recoverable Robust Representatives Selection Problems with Discrete Budgeted Uncertainty

Abstract: Robust optimization is an area of optimization that tries to make optimal choices which are robust against a certain degree of uncertainity in the surrounding world. We analyze the Recoverable Robust Representatives Selection Problem belonging to this area. While special cases have been studied before, its complexity has remained open since this was first mentioned in the 2011 PhD thesis of Büsing. We make several contributions, showing NP-hardness and identifying a special case that remains solvable in polynomial time. [hide abstract]
